Essay on New Fantasyland in Walt Disney World Florida

New Fantasyland is a new expansion in Walt Disney World, Florida. Announced in September 2009, construction for this large project, which will end up doubling the size of the previous Fantasyland, was completed in stages starting in early 2012 and ending this year with the opening of the Seven Dwarves Mine Train. This project incorporated many different disciplines of engineering, including mechanical, structural, and software engineering. Mechanical engineering is the discipline of engineering which involves design and building devices and machines using the principles of energy, materials and mechanics. It is one of the largest disciplines, one of the oldest, having been around before it was formally recognised in the 1840s, and one of†¦show more content†¦Although this may not be a conventional example of being sustainable, I believe that by addressing this problem now and not allowing it to fester for future generations to deal with was a very sustainable move. Safety issue that would have surrounded this project in the planning process would have included ensuring that the shape of the tracks of some rides and the speeds at which the ride goes at would be sufficient and also not too fast to ensure the safety of the passengers, especially with the â€Å"Seven Dwarves Mine Train† which involves rocking carts, the first roller coaster of its kind. Careful calculations and many models, both computer and physical, should have been done to ensure that these are safe for all passengers. Safety issues when actually constructing the project would have included making certain that visitors to the park were kept away from the construction site, as the park was fully open during the construction period. So long as tall, appropriate barriers were placed around the site, this should have been fine. One of the decisions made when building New Fantasyland was the decision to demolish some attractions to make way for others.
